Midlands Spotlight - Made in the Midlands

Made in the Midlands is part of the annual Flatpack Festival and will celebrate the region’s most exciting and ‘ones-to-watch’ artists, filmmakers and animators.

From cautionary watery tales to pandemic poetry, this selection of Shorts on Saturday 21st May is a testament to the richness and creativity of Midlands creatives.

The evening will question our relationship with the cities of Coventry and Birmingham in the West Midlands as well provide an opportunity to meet and chat with the artists also.

As part of the great work by BFI Network, Made in the Midlands showcases the best emerging filmmakers who have all found support from BFI Network.

Liam Young and Anya Butler with Chris Randall, are featured on the BBC’s Young Creatives and Jasmine Gardosi’s Pandemic Poetry film ‘Rollercoaster’ has been recognised internationally.

Midlands Movies Awards 2022 nominee ‘From the End of the Road’ by Ben Crawford premiers at the Flatpack Festival and is a poignant and poetic reflection on the nature of the Birmingham, its people and its history.

Phoenix City by Duncan Whitley 2021 examines Coventry’s relationship to the image of the phoenix through the Cathedral.

The event takes place at Flatpack Hub, Arch 21, Gibb Street, Birmingham, B9 4AA on Saturday 21st May from 6pm to 8.30pm. The event will last approximately 65 minutes
