Why Film Leicester

midlandsmovies • June 16, 2022

Film Leicester will be hosting a hybrid (in-person & virtual) event as part of the Leicester Creative EXPO, called 'Why Film Leicester?’

Taking place on Tuesday 21st June 2022 at Lightbox, LCB Depot in Leicester, the talk will explore the possibilities of creating a sustainable film & tv industry within Leicester & Leicestershire to continue to build a film community that brings long term success.

Questions they will be discussing include what does Leicester currently have at its disposal? What is the current climate of film production in the UK? What do other production companies outside of the county require and think?

There will be talks from industry professionals including Sindy Campbell (Film Birmingham), Alexzandra Jackson (BFI, Film Hub Midlands) and Lloret Mackenna Smith (Supervising Location Manager, The Lost King).

There will also be an additional short screening from Rendah Films and their docu-series based in Leicester. The docuseries focuses on 8 creative people that all have a drive to create, most of all in unexpected places, despite adversities. Their aim is to capture the importance of creativity within society in a way that's accessible to a wider audience.

As well as all of this, the event will have free in-person drinks and for those joining by Zoom, the link details will be confirmed on booking
