🎄 Welcome to the Party, Pal 🎄

Is it a Christmas film or not? Well whatever side you fall down on (it is btw), you can still enjoy Die Hard at an upcoming screening as part of Leicester Film Club this festive season.

The 1988 action classic starring Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman comes to Firebug Bar in Leicester city centre on Sunday 10th December 2023.

Bringing one of the best action movies of all time for a one-off Nakatomi Corporation Christmas Party, the organisers are promising themed celebrations, games and a screening of the ultimate “Christmas” film.

As well as the movie and games, attendees are strongly encouraged to head down in festive, movie and 80s costumes!

Directed by John McTiernan, Die Hard is actually based on the 1979 novel Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp and follows New York City police detective John McClane (Willis) who is caught up in a terrorist takeover of a Los Angeles skyscraper while visiting his estranged wife.

And although expectations were low for this $30 million movie, it grossed $140 million and received four Academy Award nominations, elevating Willis to leading-man status and made Rickman a celebrity.

Following over the years, sequels Die Hard 2 (1990), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), Live Free or Die Hard (2007), and A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) were diminishing returns for the franchise but the original still stands strong.

Leicester Film Club is a city centre pop up cinema night screening cult, horror and classic movies - who promise "a chance to ditch the streaming services for an evening to watch films with other movie nerds, meet new people and learn more about cinema in a relaxed environment."

Previous events have included movie classics such as Clueless and True Romance amongst many others and the evening promises to be another celebration of retro film fun.

Tickets are £5.50 in advance and £6 on the door (if available) and can be purchased here:
