Midlands Spotlight on The Wirksworth UFO Incident

midlandsmovies • April 30, 2025

Forty years later, a witness returns to Wirksworth in Derbyshire to seek closure in a new documentary called The Wirksworth UFO Incident.

Four decades after a life-altering encounter, a local man named Arthur Peterson is returning to the quaint market town of Wirksworth to confront the memories of a night that has haunted him for years.

The Wirksworth UFO Incident is an upcoming new fictional documentary that will follow Mr. Peterson as he revisits the site of his alleged UFO sighting and seeks to finally find peace with the extraordinary events of that fateful evening.

In mid-May, Nine Ladies Film will take their cameras and begin rolling in and around the area, capturing Mr. Peterson's emotional journey and the reactions of the local community to his return. The film hopes to provide an intimate and thought-provoking exploration of memory, belief, and the enduring impact of unexplained phenomena.

Adding a unique layer to the narrative, acclaimed actor Nigel Barber (Spectre, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) will feature in the documentary, offering his perspective and engaging with Mr. Peterson's story. His involvement underscores the broader cultural fascination with UFO encounters and the human element at the heart of such claims.

The film will be sponsored by Britflicks, a platform dedicated to supporting independent British cinema. And the project has also garnered significant support from the public through successful crowdfunding efforts, highlighting the widespread interest in Mr. Peterson's story and the enduring mystery surrounding the alleged incident.

Director Stuart Wheeldon states, "This isn't just a film about a potential UFO sighting; it's a deeply human story about the search for truth and the long-lasting impact of a significant life event."

"We are privileged to follow Arthur on his poignant return to Wirksworth", he adds.

When finished the final documentary aims to explore the events of 40 years ago through Mr. Peterson's recollections, local perspectives, and archival material, hopefully shedding light on his mysterious account.
