Midlands Spotlight – Navy from Duaine Carma Roberts
Birmingham filmmaker and CEO of CarmaFilm Motion Pictures Duaine Carma Roberts is back after a bit of a break with his new film Navy.
Navy is a romance music-drama feature film that follows Mason and Iris on their journey during Iris' debut music tour. Mason will be her supporting act and along their adventures, the film will portray their growing bond yet also cover how family will cause ripples in their relationship.
The trailblazing filmmaker who is passionate in promoting Birmingham’s acting and production talent comes off the back of the success of Roberts’ earlier film Angel City (our Midlands Movies review here). And to keep the momentum moving, Duaine is also planning to share further stills, the poster and an exclusive trailer over the next few months in anticipation of the film’s completion.
With the film festival season beginning around September and October, multi-talented Duaine has even composed a number of songs for Navy and hopes to screen his film in London as well as the Midlands.
Navy’s strong cast includes Shaneigha-Monik Greyson from the Bafta-winning and Netflix-distributed Rocks, as well as Ophelia J. Wisdom as Iris and Emiko as Mason who has to deal with his older brother's life of crime.
