Get involved in the Northampton Film Festival

The Northampton Film Festival has announced their full judging panel and are giving local filmmakers the opportunity to enter a short or feature, whether they are a Northampton filmmaker or one from anywhere in Great Britain.

The Northampton Film Festival 2023 has a number of unique categories too which will allow filmmakers from many different backgrounds and experience to compete.

First up, young filmmakers can enter the 16yrs and Under short film category and this includes films from around Great Britain (including a special Best Northants Film prize).

The judges for this category are Disney’s Liza Rhea, originally from Northampton, and Director Marcus Anthony Thomas who is part of the NFTS’ 2023 Disney Imagine UK incubator programme, and originally from Wellingborough. Joining the Panel is BBC Exec and Royal Television Society Midlands Chair Kuljinder Khaila.

Fiction & Drama Shorts and Features from around Great Britain (inc a Northants prize) have judges that include Glass Onion Producer Leopold Hughes and writer/broadcaster Andrew Collins, both originally from Northampton.

Development Executive Dionne Farrell (B-Side, BBC, BFI) and DP/#WomenCreateToo founder Lolly Michaels round out the team.

Finally, there is a Non-fiction/Documentary shorts and features category eligible for films from around Great Britain (and again including a Northants prize).

The judges are the Director of the international Aesthetica Short Film Festival and Aesthetica Magazine Cherie Federico, BAFTA Connect 2023 Director Paul Sng and award-winning Director Ella Glendining.

You can enter and read the full details of entry requirements at Northampton Film Festival (UK) - FilmFreeway.

All shortlisted films will be screened at Northampton Filmhouse during the festival 22nd May – 4th June 2023 and all shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to the awards ceremony at the Royal Theatre on 1st June.
