Darkness in the Fields Film Festival brings folk horror to the Midlands

Derby’s thriving independent cinema Derby QUAD presents a day of folk horror screenings, interviews and more on the 23rd March 2024 for the Darkness in the Fields Film Festival.

Folk horror stalks back onto our screens as the festival hosts a series of classic screenings, underrated gems and modern offerings in the genre, along with interviews, short films, a sales area and much more.

The event starts at midday on Saturday 23rd March with a short film showcase featuring BecoME, Blackthorn, Blight and the Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras.

Later in the day at 3:45pm The Borderlands sees a team of Vatican investigators descend upon a church in a remote area to demystify the unusual happenings, “but what they discover is more disturbing than they had first imagined”.

To Fire You Come At Last screens at 6:00pm and includes an in-person questions & answers session with the film’s director Sean Hogan.

And at the end of a full day of folk, The Moor gets a showing at 8:00pm with another in-person Q&A, this time with director Chris Cronin.

Day tickets (allowing access to all events) are available now, priced at £30 (standard) & £25 (concessions). or you can purchase individual screenings for each of the film events.
