A new horror short film has been completed by a Leicestershire-based group of filmmakers and has been recently released online just in time for the spookiest time of the year!

Written and directed by Rebecca Williamson-Brown, the micro-short WITCH explores the dark and twisted ways supposed witches were persecuted in the past.

On board as director of photography, editor, colourist and sound designer is Rob Gurney - who won the 2021 Midlands Movies Award for Best Cinematography for the short film Open Up (review here).

We spoke to Rob about his film in an interview at the time, and this new project once again features actor-model Lady Viper in another gothic-focused role.

And joining Lady Viper is Helen Regan, with the two actors embodying the theme of woman’s expression that links the past to the present. Rounding out the team is the film’s 1st Assistant Director Eve Harding, who we’ve also seen in another Digital Mechanic project Foul Play back in 2022 showing how the team's previous successes have kept their projects consistent.

And finally, in a short focusing on visuals and judging people by how they look, the make-up and VFX has been created by the director with the whole short being filmed on location in Leicestershire

Follow the team and the film’s progress over on their socials and watch the film itself below!
