New West Midlands organisation Birmingham Film Market have launched their platform with a hugely exciting new award with support from one of the region’s most celebrated film writers.

Screenwriter, director and creator of Peaky Blinders, the legendary Steven Knight has created this award with the Birmingham Film Market to acknowledge and support filmmakers with exceptional stories rom Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The BFM will reward local filmmakers who have specific regional stories to tell and with the support of Steven Knight, hope his wide-ranging experience can help local filmmakers even further in their respective careers.

In order to qualify, the film or projects must involve one or more of the following criteria:

• A Birmingham-based story
• A story about the migrant experience in the West Midlands
• An emerging/first-time writer of filmmaker over 50

The final winner will receive an exclusive award trophy due to be presented at the Birmingham Film Festival Awards gala.

In addition, the winner will get the opportunity to have an exclusive one-to0one project development mentoring session with Steven Knight himself.
