Local filmmaker launches crowdfunding campaign for new short film Falcon

This month, Midlands creative Noel Wyatt has begun a search for further funding for a brand-new project called Falcon which aims to support marginalised groups in the region.

Noel, who has worked in film and video throughout in his career, has highlighted a gap in the film world for opportunities for veterans, female leads and disabled in the industry.

Falcon tells the story of a woman who becomes attached to a young falcon after the bird crashes into her window. The film goes on to explain how they form a bond as she struggles to survive on a housing estate. But a violent attack sees her having to face incredible physical and mental challenges in her life.

Noel explains, “My lead actor is a female veteran and I am casting veterans and women in as many roles as I can. The film follows Marcie (my lead) on her journey back into civvy street after being disabled on her tour of duty”.

All of the money raised will go to the cast and crew and the production team hope to also raise funds for their local veteran’s breakfast club.

Ex-RAF staff Kate Harris, who is a veteran in real-life, plays Marcie in Falcon and brings with her a wealth of experience in film and television. In addition, Chris Baldwin from Paddy Considine’s band “Riding the Low” will act as musical director
