A local Midlands filmmaker is expanding upon their recently released proof-of-concept short to create something even more special as their production team launches a crowd-funder to develop his latest film project.

Director Scott Driver recently completed his (Midlands Movies Awards-nominated) short SOFT, a film exploring loyalty and its difficult ramifications.

Set in a greasy spoon diner, the film follows Isaac, a criminal turned police informant who meets with a friend and colleague Kev to debrief after a recent botched heist.

Driver has already seen considerable success with his previous films Hamster (
a ★★★★★ review on our website here) as well as Venari and Cheeseburger and he hopes to continue his run with this new and improved version of his first-attempt.

With the campaign underway, the director is raising funds for the film’s production and is offering a number of exclusive perks for donors. These include names in credits, script copies, behind the scenes packages and premiere screening tickets.

You can follow the film’s progress via Instagram (

Marvel’s post-Endgame output has been rather patchy and I had all but given up on the whole thing by avoiding all their films and TV shows for the last 2 years. Thor: Love and Thunder was the breaking point for me.

I can remember it vividly, the excitement, the spectacle and the long drive home afterwards. Needless to say, Batman V Superman, with its convoluted exposition and overall drabness isn’t a film I hold in high regard against its peers.
