Leicester Film Club presents The Warriors

Can you dig it? Leicester Film Club is excited to bring Walter Hill's 70s cult classic The Warriors to the screen for its 45th anniversary.

The Warriors is a 1979 American action thriller film directed by Walter Hill. Based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel of the same name, the film was released by Paramount Pictures and centres on a fictitious New York City street gang. The group must travel from the north end of the Bronx to their home turf in Coney Island in Brooklyn, after they are framed for the murder of a respected gang leader.

"Film Clubbers, come out to playeeeay".

The Warriors film will screen on Sunday 3rd March 2024 at Firebug Bar, 1 Millstone Lane in Leicester LE1 5JN.

Famously at the time, after reports of vandalism and violence, Paramount Pictures temporarily halted their advertising campaign and released cinema owners from their obligation to show the film.

Yet, despite its initially negative reception in the 70s The Warriors has since become a cult film spawning several spinoffs, including video games and a comic book series.

Leicester Film Club is a city centre pop up cinema night screening cult, horror and classic movies. The club offers a chance to ditch the streaming services for an evening to watch films with other movie nerds, meet new people and learn more about cinema in a relaxed environment.
