QUAD Broadway

Midlands Movies was set up during the winter of 2012/2013 by myself - creator and Editor Michael Sales. After writing a few scripts in 2010-2011, I found a gap in the market for local filmmakers, fans, writers and more to discuss and promote their projects for the benefit of the region. The site has showcased a wide variety of talent over 4 years from the region’s film industry - ranging from first-time students and hobbyists to full feature productions involving stars of stage, TV and worldwide cinema.

With talent from every walk of life, Midlands Movies is a place for everyone with a story and skill to share. Having dabbled in music video making with my previous bands Black Page Turns and The Authentics, I have been a fan of all types of films since graduating in Media at DeMontfort University. Currently living in Leicester, support has come from a range of excellent regional writers including horror aficiando Marek Zacharkiw (of Cosi Perversa) whose favourite films include Dawn of the Dead, Tenebrae, Oss117: Lost in Rio, On the Waterfront and Zombie Flesh Eaters.

Other contributing film fans who have written passionately about cinema for us include Guy Russell, Kira Comerford, John McCourt, Sofia Farelli and Nick Staniforth of Reel Movies.

In 2015, Midlands Movies took the plunge to put on our own themed film screenings in conjunction with Firebug Film Club. Big thanks to the Firebug crew (John, Russ & Hayley) and to the engaging audiences who have enjoyed a range of specially showcased movie events. Click here to find out more.
