Midlands Spotlight - Sandman comes calling

By midlandsmovies, Sep 7 2016 07:38AM

A new Halloween short is soon to be revealed from horror filmmakers SuperfreakMedia with the release of their next frightful film ‘Sandman’.

Starring up and coming talent Esmee Matthews as lead character Sandy, the film hopes to terrify viewers when it tears its way online during Halloween night for a short period before hitting film festivals worldwide.

Nottingham’s SuperfreakMedia has prided itself on creating fresh and original content with dashings of retro cool and ‘Sandman’ reunites a whole host of talent from their previous shorts, including last years’ ‘Mr Creak.’ This short was screened on BBC Three’s ‘The Fear’ last October and placed fifth 5th nationally from over 850 entries.

And this award winning team is back once more and promise bigger, better and a whole lot scarier for ‘Sandman’ which tells the story of Sandy who awakes from a strange dream unaware of the terrifying real-life nightmare she is about to face.

Director and writer of ‘Sandman’ is acclaimed filmmaker Liam Banks. Liam feels that the challenge on this film to create one of the scariest shorts they have ever made.

“Creating tension and fleshing out this gruesome character we had come up with was key. I really hope audiences respond to it well. Already there are parts of the film I can’t wait to see surrounded by people just to watch how they react!”

The cast also includes Matthew Barker as the Sandman whilst make-up effects will be handled by Charlie Clarke and a spooky original score created by Edward Harvey.

So horror fans take note, ‘Sandman’ will be available to view online during Halloween night at 7.00pm on SuperfreakMedia’s YouTube Channel as well as their Facebook page so be sure to check it out if you can – but not just before your bedtime! Sleep tight.
