Midlands Movies Mike Favourite 50 Films of All Time

By midlandsmovies, Dec 6 2012 07:21PM

In no particular order (and probably not very surprising to most) here are my top 50 films of all time - some grouped together as part of their larger stories (and allowing me to sneak some more in!)

Criticisms, thoughts, agreements and “no way, Mike” all appreciated...

■Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

■Lord of the Rings Trilogy

■American Beauty

■Back to the Future Trilogy

■Batman (Tim Burton)

■Dark Knight

■Die Hard

■The Shawshank Redmption

■Almost Famous

■Dr. Strangelove

■Fight Club

■Alien Quadrilogy

■The Godfather Trilogy

■Indiana Jones (Original Trilogy)

■LA Confidential

■The Matrix Trilogy

■Minority Report

■One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

■Pulp Fiction

■Toy Story Trilogy

■Raging Bull

■Requiem for a Dream

■True Romance

■Reservoir Dogs

■Schindler's List

■Withnail and I

■The Silence of the Lambs

■Sin City

■The Sixth Sense

■Some Like It Hot

■The Big Lebowski

■Spiderman 2

■This is Spinal Tap

■Jurassic Park

■Star Wars (Original Trilogy)

■Team America: World Police

■Terminator 2: Judgement Day

■Twelve Angry Men

■Full Metal Jacket

■The Warriors

Coming close but no cigar are Casino, Trainspotting, Weird Science, Watchmen, The Fall, Big Fish, Heat, Leon, Munich, 300, Ghostbusters, Senna, The Goonies, Trading Places, Wall Street, Shutter Island, Unforgiven, The Changeling, The Prestige, The Avengers, Zodiac, Airplane and the X-Men Trilogy.

My fave directors are the big guns of Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Martin Scorcese, Tarantino, James Cameron, Chris Nolan, Stanley Kubrick, Fincher and Tim Burton. With some Rodriguez, Coen Brothers, Fincher, Peter Jackson, Hitchcock, Oliver Stone being other directors I tend to like.

Update: This was all true as of end of 2011. Need to double-check the list and make updates
